Danilo Gallinari, the sixth overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft who went on to enjoy a 14-year career in the league, announced his immediate retirement Tuesday.

“Today, with a heart full of gratitude, I am announcing my retirement from the career I’ve always dreamed of,” Gallinari wrote on Twitter/X. “It’s been an incredible journey filled with countless memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.”

Gallinari played for the New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Washington Wizards, Milwaukee Bucks and Detroit Pistons from 2008-24.
A 3-point specialist, Gallinari averaged 14.9 points per game in 777 contests. He last played for the Bucks in 2023-24.

According to Basketball Reference, Gallinari made $204.6 million in his career.
