Manchester United are concerned about the rising competition for key midfield target Elliopt Anderson amid Manchester City and Liverpool’s interest.
According to Team Talk, Manchester United view Elliot Anderson as one of their key midfield targets ahead of the future windows, but they are now concerned about the growing competition. Manchester City and Liverpool are showing serious interest in pursuing the Nottingham Forest midfielder, who might not last long with Sean Dyche’s side.
Elliot Anderson has made a name for himself of late following his top-notch displays for Nottingham Forest. His performances at club level have earned him a solid spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England setup, with the 23-year-old midfielder now a firm starter for the national side alongside Declan Rice.
Nottingham Forest are aware of the growing interest in Anderson as well as the key midfielder’s rise in stature, which could see them demand a figure of £100 million or more to sell him. They are likely to slap a price point on that variety ahead of January, but the club are not expected to sell him midway through the season.
Manchester United views Anderson as a key target for their midfield and had wanted to get him for much less than his current asking price. While they are steadily leaning away from the Carlos Baleba pursuit, the 23-year-old midfield target from Nottingham Forest is seen as their primary objective.
However, the Red Devils are concerned by Anderson’s rising reputation and the growing interest in his signature. They fear that rivals like Manchester City and Liverpool’s interest in the 23-year-old could potentially harm their chances of landing him, as well as the price they might have to pay to sign him from Nottingham Forest.
Elliot Anderson’s next destination?
Manchester City are very keen to sign Anderson, as Pep Guardiola views him as a perfect cog in his midfield, something the Catalan boss has been trying for some time now. Manchester United fear that Guardiola’s influence in trying to lure the midfielder could play a huge role in them losing out on the Nottingham Forest star.
Liverpool are also interested in a move, as Anderson is the kind of profile they currently lack in their squad. With the Merseysiders in a strong position to pay big, they are expected to fight off with Manchester City for Anderson’s signature, although Manchester United are still not out of the race.
