Opinion: How Jack Grealish celebrated Everton's winner vs Bournemouth speaks volumes

Jack Grealish was the match winner for Everton on Tuesday evening in their trip down to Bournemouth.

Everton have worked their way into the top half of the table on the back of the three points against the Cherries.

Changes were enforced for David Moyes, with Michael Keane absent through injury seeing Jake O’Brien pushed into his natural position.

The points were secured late on, with Grealish’s deflected effort leaving the Bournemouth goalkeeper stranded on his line.

It was the 30-year-old’s second goal of the Premier League campaign and just what his manager asked for late last week.

And the way in which he celebrated his goal will have absolutely delighted the travelling Everton fans in the away end.

The 30-year-old has landed on Merseyside and found his love for the game again under the management of Moyes.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Grealish spoke about his celebration and how he is loving his loan move with the Blues.

“Listen, I’ve been here for three months. I’m so lucky all the teams I’ve played at I’ve had such a good connection with the fanbase,” he said.

“Now, here, I’m lucky that I’ve had such great clubs and great fanbases. This is another one of them! They’ve been so good to me. I think at the start of the second half they wanted a bit more from me because I hadn’t played that well.”

James Tarkowski slammed Grealish’s first goal against Crystal Palace and there was a scruffy nature to his winner against the Cherries.

However, that is six points which the 30-year-old has secured Everton with his two goals for the club.

What Jordan Pickford said about Grealish’s performance

Everton will want to renegotiate Grealish’s terms with Manchester City if they are to secure a permanent deal next summer.

Tuesday night’s showing was not Grealish’s finest. There was plenty of intent from the winger, but he did not have that final touch until the goal.

Bournemouth is a seriously tough place to go for any Premier League side, and Jordan Pickford made it known to Grealish that he did not perform at his best.

During the same interview, Grealish shared exactly what his goalkeeper told him after the game.

“Pickers came up to me and said: ‘That was your worst game and you got the winner’,” Grealish admitted.

“I think they [fans] were singing my name before the goal. So, I think they wanted a little bit more from me.”
