Chelsea face real test at Elland Road due to previous record against Leeds'current attackers

Everyone will be expecting Chelsea to beat Leeds United when they travel to Elland Road on Wednesday night.

Chelsea are flying at the moment, recently picking up positive results against Arsenal and Barcelona.

Leeds, in contrast, are really struggling under Daniel Farke and find themselves in the relegation zone.

Farke will not want to play Chelsea right now with his job on the line, but while the German and others may be feeling a little bit pessimistic, the Blues still have to be cautious.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Dan James, Jack Harrison and Brenden Aaronson have all scored against Chelsea in the past

Leeds have players who have hurt Chelsea before, including Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dan James, though the latter will not play on Wednesday because of injury.

During his Everton days, Calvert-Lewin managed to score a few goals against Chelsea. As for James, he netted in a 4-0 victory over the Club World Cup winners on his Manchester United debut.

Jack Harrison and Brenden Aaronson’s goals have come as Leeds players, though they were scored a while ago.

Chelsea’s team is very different compared to when that quartet last found the back of the net against them.

Nevertheless, being forward players, Enzo Maresca will obviously have to come up with a plan for them. He may have to do it without Reece James, who could be benched as the Italian looks to manage his minutes.

Chelsea’s disastrous 3-0 loss to Leeds in 2022

Chelsea will be hoping to avoid a repeat of their 3-0 defeat at Elland Road three years ago.

It was truly a day to forget, with Harrison, Aaronson and Rodrigo being the men to score Leeds’ three goals against their rivals.

Edouard Mendy made a terrible mistake between the sticks, while Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off towards the end of the game.

With the form that they are in right now, it would be a big surprise if Chelsea were beaten again and by the same scoreline. They should be bagging all three points on Wednesday, especially if they hope to compete for the Premier League title.
