What Jack Grealish and David Moyes have said as Everton love story continues in Bournemouth win

Everton fans were treated to rare delight in their 1-0 win over Bournemouth on Tuesday evening – and it’s prompted positive comments from David Moyes and Jack Grealish about one another.

Everton travelled to Bournemouth on Tuesday evening having never won a league game at the Vitality Stadium in their history, failing in the last eight attempts in the Cherries’ Premier League history.

But Jack Grealish’s late strike changed the course of that, pushing Everton as high as ninth in the table for the time being and leaving their travelling contingent in festive joy as they left the south coast.

And manager David Moyes has sung Grealish’s praises for his form, with the on-loan Manchester City attacker returning the favour by stating that he loves his boss ‘to pieces’.

Jack Grealish and David Moyes could not hide their admiration for one another after Bournemouth win

The Toffees duo spoke after the game having recorded back-to-back away wins for the first time this season.

Jack Grealish began the love-in, stating: “It’s good just to be contributing. It’s a brilliant team.

“I love the manager to pieces, you know. I’ve only known him a few months and I can’t speak highly enough of him as a person and how he makes me feel.

“How he makes me want to go out there and play for him, so credit to him. We’re doing well.”

And David Moyes returned that favour, despite calling on the winger to score more goals last week. The Scot said: “The Everton supporters love Jack Grealish.

“Jack has given the club something really different. I want to call him a top footballer.”

It will be music to the ears of the Everton supporters, who will now be gunning for a top half finish.

Jack Grealish has won Everton four points with his goals this season

Jack Grealish scored a late winner against Crystal Palace in early October to secure a 2-1 victory at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, adding two points to the Toffees’ tally in the Premier League table.

The same metric rang true again as he notched a late deflection to score his first away goal in the Premier League in almost two years, scoring against Luton Town for Manchester City in December 2023 in a 2-1 win.

That has put four points on the board for the Toffees before the New Year – which, if they hadn’t picked up those points, would only have them in 15th place.

His £15million loan fee seemed costly at the time, but Grealish’s goals already mean that Everton currently will pick up around £7.3million in extra prize money if they remain ninth. That is a huge step forwards to paying off his loan fee.
