Liverpool FC team news vs. Sunderland – Injuries, suspensions & available squad

Liverpool will not welcome back any players to their squad for the visit of Sunderland, but the good news is they came out unscathed from the win at West Ham.

Arne Slot, thankfully, does not have further injury woes on top of overseeing a permanent turnaround in form. Though he does have a few players to manage on Wednesday evening.

With cramp and minutes on return from injury to consider, here is who is and who is not available for Sunderland‘s visit:

Firstly, Slot noted that Isak “felt a little bit of cramp” after his goalscoring appearance over the weekend, which means his role will be decided by his performance in training on Tuesday.

The Swede is available, but a fit Hugo Ekitike could earn a starting place after two appearances off the bench across the last three fixtures.

Kerkez was another to suffer from cramp after three successive starts, and that could pave the way for Andy Robertson‘s return to the lineup, though Slot did not address the left-back position pre-match.

Florian Wirtz and Joe Gomez, meanwhile, are in contention but Slot did note that the duo, nor Isak, are unlikely to be “able to play three times 90 minutes.”

“All three of them can be involved in all three games – if they don’t get an injury – that’s a fair assumption to make,” he explained.

As for whether they will start against Sunderland, at Leeds, or even both remains to be seen, but their availability ensures Slot at least has options and flexibility.

There was positive news on Bradley‘s comeback, with the right-back expected to be available for selection at Leeds on Saturday after a return to parts of team training on Monday.

Frimpong, on the other hand, is due to return to training next week after eight games out with a hamstring injury. Finally good news on the right-back front!
