Daniel Farke must unleash 'unplayable' Leeds star vs Chelsea after what happened this week to…

Daniel Farke is facing a real selection dilemma as he contends with the absence of Daniel James.

James is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury during the 3-2 defeat against Manchester City at the weekend. Starting the match at the Etihad Stadium, James felt some discomfort at half-time and was replaced.

The 28-year-old has made 11 appearances for Leeds so far this term, but has started just four times in the Premier League.

Since then, the German boss has given an update on the Wales star in what is a bleak verdict on what the future has in store for him.

What Daniel Farke Said About Dan James' Injury

Speaking ahead of Leeds' clash with Chelsea, Farke delivered an update on the winger.

“His hamstring tendon is injured and (how long) he will be out for. It depends on if he needs the surgery or not, but as it stands, it looks like he could do it in the conservative way (without surgery), but even in the conservative way, it means he will probably miss the next eight weeks,” the Leeds boss said.

“As it stands, we have to expect that he’s out for the next two months at least. It could be worse with surgery, but we hope that it’s just those eight weeks."

Farke added: "Of course, he was heartbroken when we got this assessment, but there are worse things in life, and you can also have worse injuries. I will allow him one or two days to be down, and then it’s to work hard in the rehab. We need him back as soon as possible and as quickly as possible.”

Farke Must Give Willy Gnonto His Chance

Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto celebrating

The injury to Dan James could be good news for Wilfried Gnonto. The Italian winger has stagnated a little bit at Elland Road in recent seasons after being seen as a future superstar upon joining the club in 2019.

Starting just 26 times last term, Gnonto scored nine goals and provided six assists but is yet to find the net so far this term, with just one assist to his name.

Now 23 years of age, it feels like now is the time for Gnonto to announce himself as a genuine Premier League player. He has the skill and the quality, he just needs to find consistency on a weekly basis in order to do that.

Hailed as 'unplayable', Gnonto must grasp this opportunity and prove himself. Leeds need a hero and he has the ability to make a real difference in James' absence.
