How Nicolas Jackson has impressed figures at Bayern Munich despite scoring just three league goals - journalist

There has been a lot of talk about whether Bayern Munich will sign Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea permanently next summer.

It is thought that it is no longer possible for Jackson to trigger Bayern’s obligation to buy him. However, that does not mean that a transfer is completely out of the question.

The German giants could always negotiate a new deal with Chelsea to sign the striker.

What made Chelsea vs Leeds such a fierce rivalry?

“Part of the rivalry was definitely the north-south divide. We were the gritty Yorkshire team and they were the fashionable boys from the Kings Road. Both teams were full of terrific players and a few feisty characters. It got personal during the games.”

Eddie Gray (Leeds 1966-83)

“We knew they were aggrieved. After that it turned into a great rivalry between two very good sides. There was no love lost and the the best example I can give of that was the 1970 FA Cup final – especially the first game, which was one of the fiercest matches I have played in. Nobody held back.”

Ron ‘Chopper’ Harris (Chelsea 1962-80)

“They didn’t intimidate us. That’s why they hated us. There was no other club on the planet we would enjoy beating so much.”

Peter Osgood (Chelsea 1964-74)

Everything is up in the air at the moment, but Bayern do appear to be pleased with Jackson despite not committing to anything.

At Chelsea, those things were rarely questioned. Rather, it was his finishing that came under a lot of scrutiny.

Had the Senegal international been more clinical, he would probably still be at Stamford Bridge.

If Bayern do not sign him, he could end up elsewhere next season. According to Fabrizio Romano, other sides are currently monitoring Jackson’s situation.

Nicolas Jackson’s Bundesliga record

As mentioned earlier, Jackson has only scored three goals in the German top flight this term. However, it is important to remember that the 24-year-old is not starting every game because of Harry Kane.

Had Jackson been Bayern’s first-choice striker, you suspect that his tally would be a lot higher.

Whatever the case, Bayern seem to be happy with Jackson, who has also scored a couple of goals in the Champions League.

If the Senegal international does not stay at Bayern and Chelsea do not reintegrate him into their squad, a move to another English club is possible.

Jackson joining Aston Villa is not being ruled out, for example, with the forward having previously worked under Unai Emery at Villarreal.
