David Moyes says his "brilliant" Everton side has to take what they can get after a mixed week of results

Everton manager David Moyes reiterated the point that football is a fast moving game, as shown by the Toffees' results in the last seven days.

Last Monday night, Everton became the first team in the Premier League era to beat Manchester United at Old Trafford with 10 men. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s first-half stunner was enough to secure Everton’s first win in the red half of Manchester since December 2013.

Back at the Hill Dickinson on Saturday night, Everton were brought back down to Earth with a 4-1 loss to Newcastle United, which was the Magpies' first away win of the season.

After such a difference in results over a week, David Moyes insisted that Everton can respond.

*“You have to take what you can get when it comes along,*”claimed Moyes.

“We had a great result last Monday night against Man United, not such a good result on Saturday [against Newcastle].

“The team has done brilliantly well, the team has done so well.

“Do you think with how we have done from this time last year to where we are now, how the players have been performing has been fantastic.

"We had a brilliant win on Monday, and we went into Saturday carrying a little bit from that game as well. We certainly had some small injuries going into the Newcastle game.

“We were playing against a really good Newcastle team, they have been building for the last four to five years, and Champions League football, gaining experience from it as well, so hopefully we will learn from it.

“We need a little bit of time to grow it [to get to the level of Newcastle].

“Newcastle has spent very well over the last few years and bought some very good players.

"It takes a bit of time, it is very rare you can build things immediately and get it correct, so we have to try and do that and keep picking up.

“We did not play well on Saturday, but I am sure we will pick it up again.”
