Manchester City’s James Trafford hasn’t played in the Premier League since the arrival of Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The goalkeeper returned to the Etihad from Burnley in the summer and could now be in line for an early exit.
IlMilanista report AC Milan are looking for a long-term replacement for Mike Maignan, whose contract at the Rossoneri runs out in 2026. They see Manchester City’s Trafford as a ‘sensational coup’ which could be possible in the summer transfer window.
Gianluigi Donnarumma is believed to be providing an assist to the move, as he’s forced the Englishman to the peripheries of the first-team.
As a result, the 23-year-old is considering his future at Manchester City, with his most recent appearance coming against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
Trafford’s contract runs out in 2030. That will make any exit from the Etihad quite difficult unless the player himself asks for a transfer.
If he does leave, Manchester City would want to earn a capital gain from the sale, having paid €31m to sign him from Burnley.
Milan could be a major opportunity for Trafford, who would become their first-choice after Maignan’s exit.
