Chelsea’s sister club, Strasbourg, have suspended striker Emanuel Emegha for bad behaviour as tensions at the French club continue to rise.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who cover an official press release from Strasbourg today. They’ve confirmed that Emegha has been suspended for the time being.
He had already found himself being targeted by Strasbourg fans after a move to Chelsea was announced on September 12th. He’ll be joining the Blues on a permanent basis in the summer.
That did not go down well, fans of the French side labelling him a ‘BlueCo pawn’ and urging him to hand his captain’s armband back on a banner at their stadium. Now, it appears, he’s fallen out of favour with the club itself.
They announced on Wednesday that he had been suspended, although no official explanation was provided. Their statement, though, referred to ‘recent non-compliance by the player’ with the values, expectations and rules of the club.
The club also insisted that Emegha will be reintegrated after their match this week. So the suspension is not a long one.
It should, though, be of concern to Chelsea. The striker is set to join in the summer and any indication he’s not one for following the rules is a major cause for concern.
