Liverpool are set to battle it out with Chelsea in the race for Club Brugge’s Joel Ordóñez, according to Bolavip.
The centre-back has been a regular in the Belgian club’s backline and several clubs are showing interest.
Bolavip focus on Chelsea and Liverpool, and Club Brugge’s stance over sanctioning a move.
The Reds have been sending a scout to follow the defender closely. They haven’t made a decision yet, likely for the winter market. In the meantime, Chelsea have re-entered the chase for the Ecuador international.
Last December, the two English clubs were credited with an interest in the 21-year-old. Although a move never took place, Ordóñez did say a year ago that he would like to make a switch to Premier League.
The South American could be presented an opportunity to move to England in 2026. Enzo Maresca’s side have to compete with Liverpool to try and sign the defender.
Bolavip reports a decision on his future won’t be made at least until next month. They are of the belief it would be cheaper to buy him in January rather than next summer.
Ordóñez has a contract until 2029, and Club Brugge won’t make it easy for him to leave. However, his interested parties would have resources to meet their demand of over €40m.
This is likely their request for January. The price could rise next summer, especially if he were to shine at the World Cup.
