Brighton youngster Amario Cozier-Duberry has spoken about his move from North London to the south coast and explained why he chose to join the Seagulls.

The 20-year-old has been a revelation on loan at Bolton, scoring seven times, and providing seven assists in 19 games. A number of his goals have also been crucial last-minute winners to secure vital points in the Wanderers’ promotion push.

The winger was extremely highly rated by the Gunners and often likened to Arsenal and England superstar Bukayo Saka, but when asked about his move away from the club, he told the Mirror: “I think it was more of a pathway thing for me.

“Brighton’s history is amazing with a lot of young players getting chances. I felt at the time that it made sense to go to Brighton, get experience on loan and then come back and hopefully see if the pathway is there for me.”

Cozier-Duberry’s performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with many Championship clubs hoping to convince the Albion to cut his loan short and send him their way instead. Nevertheless, all parties are extremely happy with his progress and thus it seems likely that he will see out his loan at Bolton.

When asked about his time up north, he said: “I’m really enjoying it here. It was a difficult situation at Blackburn because I was a bit in and out of the team a bit. I just took [that spell] as a learning curve. I gained so much experience from being in and around the men’s department for my first time, seeing how fast-paced and how relentless the Championship is. It’s quite similar to League One as well.”

He concluded by saying: “I would be amazing to achieve something here this season. I think it’s definitely possible. It would be good for me, good for the team and good for Bolton as a whole. I think it’s something the club deserves.”
