Everton responded from Saturday's horror display against Newcastle United with a deserved 1-0 win at the Vitality Stadium.
Jack Grealish's late goal proved to be the difference as Everton have moved into 9th in the Premier League just three points shy of third. For large moments of the game David Moyes's side were in control and came close to breaking the deadlock on numerous occassisons.
Thierno Barry, who's still looking for his first goal in blue came closest to grabbing the first goal, with the 23-year-old burst through on goal but his effort was saved by Dorde Petrovic.
12 minutes from time Everton broke the deadlock with Carlos Alcaraz driving forwards before laying it across to Grealish, who's deflected strike left Petrovic rooted to the spot, and proved to be the match winner.
This away victory was Everton's eighth since David Moyes returned to the club in January which no team has matched.
The past week Everton have won at Old Trafford and at the Vitality as the Toffees have finally ended their hoodoo. This weekend host former Blues manager Sean Dyche as they face Nottingham Forest.
Tim Iroegbunam impressed
Following a disappointing first-half display against Newcastle United Iroegbunam was hooked off at half-time but responded with his best display for Everton so far.
The midfielder was booked for a silly foul on Antoine Semenyo but throughout the 90 the 22-year-old was strong in his duels, buying fouls for Everton and was a real presence for the Blues.
No player won more duels than the former Aston Villa man with ten and coped with Bournemouth's duo of Tyler Adams and Alex Scott.
Iroegbunam will miss Everton's game against Nottingham Forest this weekend due to suspension causing more problems for David Moyes.
Lack of depth in midfield
Following Idrissa Gana Gueye's red card against Manchester United this left Everton vulnerable in midfield due to injuries to Merlin Rohl and with James Garner at times being played at full-back leaving Everton short in this position.
With Iroegbunam being suspended for the weekend, and Garner continuing to shine at right-back, David Moyes will hope that Michael Keane returns to the squad this weekend so Garner can return to his natural position alongside Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Nathan Patterson returned to the bench in the win over Bournemouth, and Dwight McNeil could be a last resort option for Moyes to play in midfield with this position perhaps needs addressing for Everton this January.
Strong month for Dewsbury-Hall
In recent weeks you could argue Everton have seen the best from Dewsbury-Hall. Signed from Club World Cup Champions Chelsea in the summer the midfielder started the season playing higher up, in the number.10 role.
The former Leicester man was crucial in the 3-2 victory over Wolves earlier in the season and the past four games has been a key component in Everton's recent form.
The 27-year-old scored the decisive goal in the 1-0 victory over Manchester United scoring from distance and following Gueye's dismissal the midfielder dropped in deep and arguably is best suited there.
In last night victory he was the one who was linking Everton's attack from deep and having the ability to keep hold of the ball which helped in Everton's late game management as they saw the game out.
Jack Grealish's goal proved to be the difference
David Moyes said that he wants Grealish to shoot more, and despite taking a deflection of Bafode Diakite, the loanee certainly listened to the manager's demands.
Against Andoni Iraola's side the 30-year-old was a danger throughout and got himself into numerous shooting positions and was a real problem for Alex Jimenez.
This was Grealish's first goal contribution since October where he scored the winner in the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, but now has six goal involvements in 13 games.
When speaking to Sky Sports after the game Grealish was full of praise for the manager stating that he loves him to pieces and with the winger kissing the badge when he scored could he stay beyond this season?
