Brighton have reportedly joined the race to sign Tromso youngster Jens Hjerto-Dahl.
The midfielder has emerged as Norway’s latest breakout star, having already developed into one of the first names on the team sheet for his boyhood side over the past few campaigns.
Hjerto-Dahl has racked up four goals and six assists in all competitions so far this season, and his impressive displays have put him on the radar of top clubs around Europe.
According to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-leeds-and-brighton-in-race-to-sign-jens-hjerto-dahl/), Brighton are one of the latest sides to join the race to secure the signature of the 20-year-old, who already has 87 senior club appearances under his belt.
Bournemouth and Leeds are also keen on the playmaker, with all three clubs making ‘regular checks’ on Hjerto-Dahl.
The talented prospect has earned rave reviews over the past few seasons in Norway, and his performances have frequently seen him likened to Arsenal captain and fellow countryman, Martin Odegaard. Thus, there is a growing feeling that he will take the next step in his career and move to a top-five league sooner rather than later.
It is not just Premier League outfits who are keen on Hjerto-Dahl though as he also has admirers in the Serie A, Bundesliga, La Liga and Ligue 1.
A bidding war could therefore be in the pipeline, although suitors will be aware of the No. 6s contract situation at Tromso.
The youngster’s current deal at the Eliteserien outfit expires in 2027, and therefore his boyhood side may need to cash in on his services at the earliest opportunity to ensure that his price does not plummet in the summer transfer window.
January could therefore spark Hjerto-Dahl’s suitors into life, though it remains to be seen whether some interested clubs look to bide their time in hope of snapping up the talented prospect for a cut-price fee over the summer instead.
