‘Baby Doku’‘Who’s This Guy Again?’Liverpool Fans React To Claims Are In“Very Advanced”Talks With Ivorian Ace

Liverpool and Tottenham have both had “very advanced” discussions with the entourage of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, according to reports in Switzerland.

Sky Sports Switzerland claim in an exclusive that the two Premier League teams are in pole position to sign the Ivorian international.

Diomande has only played professionally for a brief period of time, having made his senior debut for Leganes last March, and fans on X are split on whether he is ready for a move to Anfield:

He Has a very high ceiling if the price isn’t to high I’d say bring

Is he any good? We shouldn't be wasting money anyhow….Ngumoha should be given the chance to prove himself

This would make a lot of sense depending on the fee. He can play on either side of the pitch and can be a long-term replacement for Salah if needed.

It has been a meteoric rise for Diomande

As mentioned, the 19-year-old has very limited experience of senior football. After moving to Spain last January, he made 10 appearances in the second half of last season.

After Leipzig paid €20m to bring Diomande to Germany at the start of this campaign, he has gone on to play 14 games, scoring 4 goals and contributing 4 assists.

At international level, the forward received his first cap for Ivory Coast against Seychelles in October. He scored on his debut and in his subsequent appearance versus Kenya.

Liverpool are expected to make a move for another winger

While it appears as if the Reds are big fans of Diomande, sporting director Richard Hughes has been tipped to table a bid for Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo instead.

The Ghanaian has a release clause in his contract worth £65m that can be triggered in the first two weeks of the January transfer window.
