Best Premier League XI OUTSIDE of the Big 6

The main focus of the Premier League will always be on the ‘big six’. Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been the league’s biggest hitters for the last 15 years, barring a few hiccups here and there.

As such, we’d like to take a look at the other 14 clubs today. We took at look at their squads, determined who their best players are and decided which of them would make it into a best XI.

For the sake of fairness and wider representation, we have limited this XI to one player per team – therefore, some of the best players outside of the top six had to miss out.

Stars such as Omar Alderete, Marc Guehi and Sandro Tonali were left out as a result of our one player per club rule – without it, they would surely have a place in our team.

GK: Robin Roefs

Robin Roefs has been a fantastic signing for Sunderland – given his transfer fee of £9 million, he has also proven to be a very economical one.

A towering goalkeeper with excellent reflexes, he has made a total of 45 saves this season. He is prone to the occasional mistake, but this is understandable when you consider his meagre age of just 22.

RB: Daniel Munoz

Arguably the best attacking full-back in the Premier League this season, Daniel Munoz has been a revelation for Crystal Palace ever since his arrival at Selhurst Park in 2024.

He was an even more frugal signing than Roefs was, with a transfer fee of just £6.6 million. Amid a summer of profligate spending, it’s refreshing to see that teams still see the value in a top bargain.

CB: Ezri Konsa

England star Ezri Konsa has been slowly building up his profile over the past couple of years. Putting in consistent performances every week for Aston Villa, he is now a shoe-in for Thomas Tuchel’s Three Lions squad.

Villa have, at times, struggled in 2025/26 – but Konsa has been a consistent performer and can always be relied upon to put in a shift.

CB: Maxime Esteve

Last season, Maxime Esteve dominated the Championship. Comfortably the best defender in England’s second tier in 2024/25, he has had a few teething troubles since Burnley’s promotion, but is still their premier centre-back.

At just 23, Esteve’s best years are still well ahead of him – could a big money move be on the cards in the summer?

LB: El Hadji Malick Diouf

Few expected El Hadji Malick Diouf to make such an impact upon his arrival at West Ham United, but the 20-year-old has made an incredibly promising start to life in the Premier League.

A lightning-quick left-back, the Senegalese international has racked up three assists over 13 games in the 2025/26 season.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes

Is Bruno Guimaraes the best central midfielder in the Premier League? He has some incredibly stern competition, but he has to at least be in the conversation.

He is a truly complete player – not only is the Newcastle United ace defensively sound, he is also very creative and pulls his weight in terms of goal contributions.

CM: Elliot Anderson

Elliot Anderson has taken off over the past calendar year – while Nottingham Forest have had their ups and downs, Anderson has been a consistently strong performer.

He is now firmly in contention for the England squad ahead of the World Cup – his energy levels and excellent passing ability would make him an worthwhile asset to the Three Lions in the summer.

RW: Yankuba Minteh

Gambian star Yankuba Minteh has been excellent for Brighton this season. Fabian Hurzeler’s men currently find themselves in 5th place in the league table, with Minteh being one of the key contributors toward their success.

So far this season, he has scored a single goal and has racked up four assists. A rapid wide player with a decent end product, the sky is the limit for this man.

AM: Iliman Ndiaye

Everton have struggled to score goals this season, but Iliman Ndiaye has been on hand on several occasions to bail the Toffees out.

His movement, both on and off the ball, is sublime. His finishing is top-notch, too – he has scored four Premier League goals so far this season.

LW: Antoine Semenyo

Perhaps the best player in our XI, Antoine Semenyo has been absolutely phenomenal for Bournemouth this season, scoring six goals and racking up three assists.

The Cherries are experiencing a lull in form at the moment, but they’re still eight points outside of the relegation zone – who knows where they might be without him?

ST: Igor Thiago

Outside of Erling Haaland, Igor Thiago is the second-best striker in the Premier League at the moment. His goalscoring record backs this statement up – Brentford’s Brazilian has scored 11 goals in 13 league games so far this season.

Lethal in front of goal, Thiago brings a perfect blend of technical ability and physical strength. At the age of just 24, he has a glittering future in the world of football.
