Liverpool’s return to winning ways proved to be short lived as they drew 1-1 at home to Sunderland.
Chemsdine Talbi scored the opener for Regis Le Bris’ side in the 67th minute, before a Nordi Mukiele own goal put Liverpool level.
Arne Slot opted to make only one change to the Liverpool side which beat West Ham 2-0 on Sunday, with Andy Robertson coming in for Milos Kerkez and Mo Salah again left on the substitutes’ bench.
The draw, Liverpool’s first of the season in the league, sees them sit eighth in the Premier League, and they have won just one of the last five in all competitions. Sunderland, meanwhile, are sixth.
