Liverpool must sack Arne Slot ASAP and appoint 'world-class' manager after Sunderland draw…

Liverpool have failed to win yet another game, and Arne Slot's time in charge at Anfield must surely be coming to an end now.

The Reds snapped a run of nine defeats in 12 games at the weekend with a big 2-0 win over West Ham, and the manager made just one change to his starting lineup from that game as the team welcomed newly-promoted Sunderland to Merseyside on Wednesday night.

But the team turned in another shocking performance that looked a shadow of themselves, and only managed to scrap a draw late on thanks to a Nordi Mukiele own goal, from a Florian Wirtz strike. A Federico Chiesa goal-line clearance in stoppage time saved them a point too, in a performance that was described as 'very worrying' by Jamie Carragher.

Time for Slot to Leave Liverpool

Arne Slot looks on during Liverpool's defeat to PSV Eindhoven

Slot did an incredible job at Liverpool in his first season, filling the void left by Jurgen Klopp and delivering a Premier League title at the first attempt. But it's impossible to ignore the decline this season, and it's come from him implementing his own ideas and players.

Wirtz and Alexander Isak were both brought in for record-breaking fees, while Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong were brought in to help with the new attacking style. But none of the players have hit the ground running and they've all had their struggles so far, while the rest of the squad can't seem to cope with the physicality of the Premier League anymore.

It's now just four wins in their last 14 games in all competitions, and there is no sign of improvement anywhere. Defensively, the team is an absolute eyesore, and going forward the team look bereft of ideas.

Fans have begun to turn on Slot, and as the festive period begins, Liverpool must make the tough decision to part ways with the underperforming boss while there is still plenty of time to recover and save the season in the new year.

Oliver Glasner is the Perfect Replacement

Should Slot go, there will be big questions about who will replace him, but there is a very obvious candidate who would surely be available quite easily.

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has been exceptional since joining the Eagles, winning them the FA Cup and Community Shield and leading their best ever period as a club. But the Austrian, who has been described as 'world-class', is out of contract at the end of the season and has recently been open about his disappointments with the board.

That could potentially open the door for an earlier exit, and it has been suggested that he should be expecting a call from Anfield should Slot leave.

The time is now for Slot to leave and Liverpool to bring Glasner in. The Sunderland game proved it.
