Chelsea Leeds United
Leeds United sprung a huge surprise at Elland Road on Wednesday night in their bid for Premier League survival. Heading into the game against Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side, the Whites had lost four league games in a row.
There was not a lot of optimism heading into the match after two painful losses to Aston Villa and Manchester City. Both games were in the grasp of Daniel Farke’s men but they could not capitalize on it.

Leeds got off to a hot start as Jaka Bijol powered in a header from a corner in the sixth minute of the game, rising higher than the Chelsea defenders. Many thought this game would follow the script of the last two matches, where the Whites took the lead and eventually lost. But Ao Tanaka doubled the club’s lead just before half time.
Pedro Neto pulled on back for the visitors just five minutes into the second half, which left fans a little nervous for the rest of the game. Dominic Calvert-Lewin capitalized on poor defending to seal the win.
Gary Neville says Chelsea deserved to lose to Leeds United
After the result former Premier League defender Gary Neville, who was covering the game, said that Leeds sprung a huge surprise on the Blues:
“I don’t think Chelsea knew what was coming. They didn’t seem to know about Elland Road and it has blown them away.
“They have been completely beaten up by Leeds United. All game they were bullied, out fought and they deserved to lose.
“Leeds were outstanding all game. They needed this result, the manager needed this result and they have taught Chelsea a lesson.
“Chelsea have not respected what Elland Road is, what you get what you come here and they have been found out. It’s been an incredible night for Leeds.”
Elland Road form pays off once again
Even in their poor run of form, Leeds have managed to put up brave performances at home. They should have gotten something out of the Aston Villa game, and they have deservedly beaten Chelsea. Before their difficult run of fixtures started, many believed that the club’s home form could play a huge role.
And now, after four straight defeats, the Whites have gotten three valuable points on the board. Hopefully Daniel Farke and his men can build on this as the season progresses. This win is also a huge on for the Leeds boss, who was under pressure before tonight’s game.
