Andrews proud of Brentford performance despite Arsenal defeat

It was a tough night in North London for Andrews and Brentford, who made a number of changes for the clash at the Emirates Stadium.

The Bees head coach went to a back-five, with Kristoffer Ajer, Ethan Pinnock and Rico Henry all coming in to the starting XI having been on the bench against Burnley.

With a reunion with Thomas Frank this Saturday, Andrews was asked whether making wholesale changes had any bearing on the possibility of winning at Tottenham given their poor home form.

"Bit of everything, really,", Andrews said.

"A couple of knocks, a couple of bits of players maybe needed a little bit of a rest and not to start it tomorrow or so to come on. Utilising the squad, which I have so much confidence in, picking the team on a day on a weekly basis is difficult at times because the players do push each other."

"I felt a lot of the players that come in tonight absolutely deserve to start the game."

Andrews reverted to a back-five for the first time since October, and he revealed that they were several factors in his decision and not solely because it was against Arsenal.

"Again, probably a little bit of everything. Personnel that I wanted to play, opposition. I don't think it needs to change too much really in terms of how you can approach the game. I still wanted us to be pretty proactive, aggressive, front-footed.

At times, the opposition doesn't allow you to do that because they're very good. But I still think you can be that. We touched on it before the game around how we've done it before against Chelsea, Man City this season and how effective it's been."
