It’s certainly not a thing to suggest the Minnesota Timberwolves are destined for a championship this season. On Tuesday night Chris Finch’s group needed overtime to best a 3-18 New Orleans Pelicans team.

The problem with Minnesota certainly does not currently reside with Anthony Edwards though. The franchise icon understands he needs to unlock a new level in order to win a ring. He’s continuing to work towards that, and he won’t stop short of accomplishing the goal.

MN Timberwolves have Anthony Edwards guarantee

Anthony Edwards has been a dynamic talent since the moment he was drafted. The 2020 1st overall pick continues to push the boundaries of his game, and his latest comments suggest he’s no where close to finished.

Anthony Edwards on bringing a championship to Minnesota:

"Don’t worry about it. I’m going to make it happen. I’m going to get fly as hell to where they can’t stop me.”

Edwards is probably the last person on the planet that will ever suggest he’s got real competition for greatness. At just 24 years old, he continues to push himself and charge forward with a ridiculous level of tenacity.

Although Edwards missed time earlier this year, he’s played in 17 games and is averaging a career-best 29.8 points per game. Last season he led the NBA in three pointers made, and his 41.3% clip this year is a step up from the 39.5% in 2024.

Right now Edwards is rocking a stretch of six-straight games with more than 30 points. In half of those contests he has surpassed 40.

Michael Jordan dotes on Anthony Edwards

You can fight the internal dialogue as to whether Anthony Edwards might be the son of Michael Jordan or not. Either way though, the Minnesota Timberwolves star would love to reach his heights and the NBA legend had him on his mind this offseason.

Michael Jordan:

"I had a conversation this summer with a high executive at Minnesota and he was talking about Anthony Edwards. I heard during the course of the year that they were double teaming (him). He didn't know how to deal with the double team…those are the types of… pic.twitter.com/rKEmOJHCX9

Anthony Edwards knows who the greatest player of all time is, and Jordan has lived the experiences that Edwards is going through. As the Timberwolves star continues to find himself in the league, a level of evolution will take place.

Minnesota seeing their star continue to find untapped potential is something amazing. Given the output currently, it’s crazy to think we have not yet seen the best of Edwards. The reality is that Minnesota needs more if they are going to win a title, and he’s very likely the guy to give it to them.
