Isaiah Stewart’s clash with Bucks’ Bobby Portis leads to ejection

The Detroit Pistons have gotten off to a strong start this season. They came into Wednesday night’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks holding the second-best record in the NBA and sitting atop the Eastern Conference at 17-4.

After a foul was called, Bobby Portis and Isaiah Stewart came face to face, inches from each other, Portis, one of the better players who get under your skin, appeared to have succeeded again.

When he was ejected, Stewart had tallied five points on 2-of-3 shooting, including 1-of-1 from three, along with four rebounds, one steal, and two blocks in 18 minutes. At that point, the Pistons led by seven late in the third quarter, but the Bucks have since rallied to take the lead midway through the fourth. Portis, who has played 29 minutes, has been a major factor, contributing 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and a +15 rating on the floor.

Stewart has mainly come off the bench this season, putting up 9.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.9 blocks in just over 22 minutes per game. At 24 years old, he contributes more than depth, bringing a level of physicality and grit to the Pistons’ lineup that is a little uncommon in today’s NBA.
