Milwaukee Bucks fans are feeling uneasy despite their team beating the Detroit Pistons at Fiserv Forum Wednesday night, 113-109. With Giannis Antetokounmpo leaving the game in the first quarter with a concerning injury, Milwaukee is facing the possibility of playing another stretch without the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player
Among the initial concerns upon seeing Antetokounmpo go down in the first quarter of the game was that he suffered an Achilles rupture. That would be a season-ending outlook for the franchise cornerstone.
When Antetokounmpo fell to the ground, it was not because he made contact with anyone. A non-contact injury sometimes suggests an Achilles tear, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Following the win over Detroit, Milwaukee head coach Doc Rivers said that Antetokounmpo appears to have avoided an Achilles tear.
“Doc Rivers tells reporters that he thinks the Bucks have ruled out an Achilles injury for Giannis Antetokounmpo,Eric Nehm of The Athleticshared via a post on X.

Many fans are relieved to know of the update on Antetokoumpo based on their reactiont o Nehm’s post.
“I’m shocked that the [expletive] tradeitis injury is not an Achilles,” said a fan on X.
Another one said: “Oh dear god thank you god.”
From a commenter: “Great news please be true”
“Good. Just don’t play Saturday.,” a social media user posted.
Via a different commenter: “Thank the basketball gods..”
Said another: “Hope it’s nothing serious. The Giannis/MIL story ending with some kind of injury to spiral off a trade saga would be especially awful.”
There should be more and clearer updates on Antetokounmpo’s injury coming, but for now, it’s probably safe to assume that he won’t be able to play in this Friday’s home game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
