Tottenham have made very advanced contacts with the entourage of RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande.
Tottenham Hotspur are already planning for the January transfer window and beyond, and the club’s intentions couldn’t be clearer: Thomas Frank wants a new winger with pace, dynamism, creativity and goals.
According to an exclusive report from Sacha Tavolieri of Sky Sports, Spurs are in pole position to sign RB Leipzig’s highly-rated young winger Yan Diomande. However, they face direct competition from Liverpool. Both the Premier League clubs have been monitoring the player for several months and have recently intensified discussions.
The profile of Yan Diomande appeals to Thomas Frank, who wants to strengthen his attack with a dynamic winger capable of unlocking tight defences. Meanwhile, Liverpool, currently rebuilding their attack, view the RB Leipzig talent as a ‘serious option’ to add flair and energy to Arne Slot’s squad. Barcelona are also keen, but they have just held exploratory calls thus far.
As for RB Leipzig, they are fully aware of growing interest in their starlet. They have not set a price for Diomande and could demand a premium in the summer of 2026, given the Ivorian’s talent, potential and competition for his signature, Sacha Tavolieri adds.

Diomande joined RB Leipzig from Leganes in the summer, and he has impressed in Germany, with four goals and as many assists in 14 matches across all competitions. The teenager is a part of a young RB Leipzig team that is tearing it up in the Bundesliga under Ola Werner. Such has been the Ivorian’s performances that he has once again been nominated for the Bundesliga’s Rookie of the Month award!
Leipzig paid €20m for Diomande in the summer, so the likelihood is that they would demand a high price. Capable of operating on both flanks, Diomande would be a fine option to inject pace and goal threat to the Tottenham attack. He has the directness, agility and verve to stretch defences and deliver end-product. The African is a player with talent and high potential, no wonder Liverpool and Barcelona are also keen on him alongside Tottenham.

With Frank’s system heavily reliant on wingers to stretch defences, create chances and even score goals, the Leipzig starlet would fit the bill perfectly. Having turned 19 in November, Diomande would represent a signing for the future. However, given his impact in the Bundesliga after arriving from Leganes, he may arrive as someone ready to challenge the likes of Mathys Tel, Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert next summer.
Diomande’s value and potential make him an appealing target, but Spurs face major obstacle. First, competition from Liverpool and Barcelona for the winger remains strong; both clubs offer regular Champions League, opportunity to win trophies and likely more resources. So, it would be an uphill task for the Lilywhites to pull off the explosive African prodigy’s signing.
