Don Hutchison has responded to the backlash he received after calling out Premier League players for diving, including Everton’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Everton managed to oversee a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on Tuesday, and Dewsbury-Hall was once again one of the stars of the show.

Playing in a deeper role, he helped out both in defence and attack as Everton won three valuable points and leapfrogged the Cherries.

However, the aftermath of the match saw the Englishman accused of diving.

Don Hutchison: I hate all Premier League players diving, not just Everton stars

The controversy surrounding ex-Toffee Hutchison came after the match.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The former midfielder posted an image made by Sportsbible on X, which called for more action to be taken against players who fall and grab the ball when under pressure facing their goal.

Dewsbury-Hall was used as an example in this image for an incident against Bournemouth, with Hutchison calling for referees not to fall for these “dives”.

As a result, the former Toffees faced backlash from multiple Everton fans, who claimed that the incident was actually a foul, and he is only calling out Everton players.

RIGHT I can only tweet this one more time🤬🤬🤬🤬

I hate ALL players diving✅

I retweeted the below pic because it happened to be on my time-line this morning that’s all✅

It’s not an Everton thing,it’s all players diving and refs falling for it…….. https://t.co/fNb774va0x pic.twitter.com/Fwowz5ETb4

Now, Hutchison has responded via X on 3 December, claiming that he hates all players who dive, not just Toffees stars who do it.

The only reason he posted the image was because it was on his timeline that morning.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is extremely clear on the ball

While Dewsbury-Hall has many exceptional qualities at Everton, one that goes under the radar is how many fouls he wins.

The midfielder has won 1.71 fouls per game according to Sofascore, with the midfielder helping to relieve pressure for the Toffees at multiple moments.

This, combined with his other qualities, makes him an outstanding asset for David Moyes, and certainly one of the signings of the season.

Hopefully, he can keep this up for the rest of the campaign as the Toffees eye Europe.
