Trent Alexander Arnold suffers concerning injury

Real Madrid’s 3-0 victory over Athletic Club at San Mamés on Wednesday night was marred by an injury blow to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who was forced off in the 55th minute after delivering one of his best performances in a Los Blancos shirt.

The former Liverpool right-back had been enjoying a standout evening in Bilbao before the setback.

Just seven minutes into the match, Alexander-Arnold produced a stunning cross-field pass that found Kylian Mbappé in space.

The Frenchman controlled brilliantly, navigated through Athletic’s defence, and curled home from 20 yards to give Madrid the lead.

It marked Alexander-Arnold’s first La Liga assist since his high-profile summer move from Anfield – a moment that would have provided welcome relief following criticism from Spanish media in recent weeks.

But the evening took a disappointing turn for the England international.

Trent signalled discomfort in his left thigh as he left the pitch in the 54th minute and headed straight down the tunnel, with Raúl Asencio coming on in his place.

Spanish reporter Miguel Ángel Díaz has indicated that the club are worried, as the right-back is believed to have picked up an injury to his left adductor muscle:

“Trent has injured his left quadriceps. The injury seems concerning ahead of the tests,” he reported.

Real Madrid are concerned about the extent of the problem, with tests scheduled to determine how long the 27-year-old will be sidelined.

Initial reports suggest he could miss anywhere from one to six weeks depending on the severity, with some reporting that he is unlikely to play again in 2025.

This latest setback adds to what has been a disrupted debut campaign at the Bernabéu, following a hamstring injury sustained against Marseille in September that kept him out for over a month.

Trent se ha lesionado en el cuádriceps de la pierna izquierda. Antes de las pruebas parece preocupante la lesión.

Camavinga terminó con molestias en el tobillo izquierdo. Parece poca cosa.
