Giannis Antetokounmpo’s move after Bucks-Pistons speaks louder than rumors

TheMilwaukee Bucks pulled off a huge 113-109 win at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday night over the Detroit Pistons. It was a statement win for Milwaukee, as it took down the top team in the Eastern Conference. However, the Bucks have one big concern at the moment, particularly concerning the health of Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Before the game, the concern regarding Antetokounmpo was mostly about hisoutlook in Milwaukee, with trade rumors involving his name popping up again. But all the attention is now on the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player’s calf.

Antetokounmpo went down with a non-contact injury just minutes into the Pistons game, just after recording a dime on a bucket by Milwaukee guard AJ Green. The Bucks later ruled him done for the rest of the night. After the game, head coach Doc Rivers said that the belief is that Antetokounmpo hasavoided the dreaded torn Achilles injury.

Amid all the uncertainty about his injury, Antetokounmpo did not let it distract him from the big win his team just pulled off at home.

Bobby Portis told reporters that while he hasn’t had a chance to talk personally to Giannis Antetokounmpo yet, the Bucks star was the first player in the group chat after the game congratulating the team on a win.

Several players stepped up for Milwaukee to defend its home against the visiting Pistons. Kevin Porter Jr. put up 26 points while Ryan Rollins fired 22 points. Backup big man Jericho Sims also delivered an expected big night, as he came off the bench and dropped 15 points after not scoring more than six in any of the previous Milwaukee games this season.

Now at 10-13, Milwaukee will next play the Philadelphia 76ers at home, hopefully with some more good news about Antetokounmpo’s injury coming before that showdown.
