Mikel Arteta acknowledges ‘players are not machines’ as more men go down injured

Mikel Arteta offered updates about the state of the **Arsenal**squad after beating **Brentford**2-0.

Gabriel Magalhaes was injured in the international break, William Saliba has been missing since the visit of Bayern Munich to North London, and two members of the side’s spine suffered injuries against the Bees on Wednesday evening. However, at the same time, the attack welcomed back several options as Bukayo Saka was rested and Viktor Gyokeres gets to work his way towards full fitness.

The strains of the schedule show no sign of slowing down, and the Gunners have to keep on adapting.

“Declan Rice* had to come off, we don't know, we'll have to see what he’s got. Cristhian Mosquera is the other one that is out, obviously we have big Gabi and William Saliba out as well. So we have to adapt, it's been a theme this season.*

*“But when I look at the players that haven't been playing much: Ben White, the performance that he had. Martin Odegaard has been out, and he puts 96 minutes under his belt straight away. Noni Madueke, the same, Viktor Gyokeres is coming and now he's getting some minutes as well.*

*“We can help the players and everybody in the league and everybody to do what we have to do, give it another day. Especially the teams that are playing so much in Europe. To everybody in general, I think we can do that because we're going to benefit from that. We've never had such a schedule on every level, not only in the Premier League, but every competition internationally as well.*

“So we need to try to do that, please. I think it's common sense. I think at some point this becomes too much, you know, and the players are not machines. But we have to try to do that when we can.”
