Liverpool striker Jayden Danns is nearing a return from an injury which was first feared to rule him out for the majority of the campaign, with speculation over a January loan.
Danns has been sidelined since September after suffering a hamstring injury in a 3-2 defeat to Ipswich U21s, having pulled up in taking a free-kick.
It was first indicated that the 19-year-old’s issue was a serious tear and he would undergo surgery to correct the problem.
But the Mail‘s Lewis Steele now reports that, while Danns did require an operation, the issue was only minor and he is already nearing a return to training.

He has begun ball work outside at the AXA Training Centre and is considered ahead of schedule when it comes to his recovery.
Liverpool will, however, remain cautious with a player who has struggled with persistent injuries since his breakthrough into the first-team setup.
A return is slated for early next year and that will likely come first with the U21s rather than as part of Arne Slot‘s senior squad.
Another striker nearing his comeback is Will Wright, with the 17-year-old also training outside again after suffering a knee injury while playing Atletico Madrid U19s in September.
Danns already wanted for January loan

Having both available could prompt a decision over Danns’ future, with Steele reporting that clubs have already made clear their interest in a January loan.
Danns officially joined Sunderland on a half-season loan in the winter window last term but did not even move to the north-east, instead staying on Merseyside for the duration of his deal rehabbing a back injury.
It stands to reason that other sides in the Championship would be eager to sign a player of his proven talent and vast potential.

However Liverpool will be mindful of throwing him into the deep end so soon after another injury, with it possible that he instead stays with the Reds for the remainder of the season to ensure he returns to peak fitness.
Danns finds himself low down the pecking order when it comes to Slot’s options up front, but has already made the matchday squad on two occasions this term.
He was an unused substitute in the 3-2 win over Atletico in the Champions League before impressing off the bench in the 2-1 victory over Southampton in the Carabao Cup.
Liverpool could loan out a number of youngsters in January, including Trey Nyoni.
