Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Nicolas Jackson has played his last game for Chelsea, and the club plan to let him go in 2026 permanently. The Senegalese international is currently on loan to Bayern Munich for the whole season. Still, it doesn’t look like the German giants will exercise their option to make the move permanent under the current terms.
Reports say Jackson’s loan deal included a buy obligation tied to specific performance conditions, which are now mathematically impossible to meet. Because of this, the 24-year-old is expected to go back to London next summer.
At that point, Chelsea will try to help him move to a new team rather than bring him back into the first team. Fabrizio Romano says that Jackson will not be able to revive his career at Stamford Bridge. Romano discussed the forward’s future and potential landing spots on his YouTube channel:
“It might be in England, Aston Villa, Bayern, of course. Let’s see what they decide to do for Jackson. There will be a lot of interest. But at the moment, what I can guarantee Aston Villa wanted him last summer.”
He continued:
“That’s why I mentioned Aston Villa. Unai Emery knows the player well from Villarreal. But what I want to tell you is that between Jackson and Chelsea, the story is considered over.”
Jackson has found some rhythm in Germany lately, even though he doesn’t know what his long-term future holds. He has primarily been in Harry Kane’s shadow, but he has scored three goals in his last four Bundesliga games. He also scored in the Champions League against Paphos and Club Brugge, showing that he can still perform well in Europe.
Romano didn’t completely rule out the possibility of Bayern Munich coming back to the table to talk. Even though the automatic buyout clause may have expired, the Bundesliga team could reopen talks with Chelsea to sign Jackson on a better deal if they believe he would be a good backup for Kane.
Chelsea signed new strikers to replace Nicolas Jackson
Chelsea’s attacking line has changed a lot in the last few transfer windows, so they have decided to let Nicolas Jackson go. The Blues have worked hard to find long-term replacements, so they have plenty of options up front, no matter what happens with Jackson.
Chelsea signed Liam Delap from Ipswich Town and Joao Pedro from Brighton in the summer of 2025. This added Premier League-quality players to their attack. The addition of Brazilian star Estevao Willian has also made the forward line even stronger.
The way for Jackson to get back into the starting XI at Stamford Bridge has been effectively blocked by the arrival of Emmanuel Emegha from Strasbourg and the push for minutes from young Marc Guiu.
