Everything you need to know about Trent Alexander-Arnold's injury...

Trent Alexander-Arnold is currently out with a muscular injury in the rectus femoris of his left quadriceps. The former Liverpool star picked up the injury and was forced off just before the hour mark during Real Madrid's 3-0 win against Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday night.

"Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player, Trent Alexander-Arnold, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to the rectus anterior quadriceps in his left leg," Real said in a statement. "His progress will be monitored."

The [BBC](http://Following tests carried out today by the Real Madrid Medical Services on our player, Trent Alexander-Arnold, he has been diagnosed with a muscular injury to the rectus anterior quadriceps in his left leg. His progress will be monitored.) is reporting that Alexander-Arnold will be out for 'about two months'. It's another blow for the 27-year-old, who has already spent time on the sidelines this season with a hamstring injury.

Alexander-Arnold who left Liverpool at the end of his contract in the summer, is expected to miss some big games as a result. If he is sidelined for two monsh, that means he will likely miss the remainder of the Champions League group stage, the Spanish Super Cup, and up to nine league games.

The injury means Real are looking for another solution to their right-back woes. Dani Carvajal is also injured, recovering from knee surgery, with midfielder Federico Valverde recently filling in at the position.

It's a cruel blow, too, because of how well Alexander-Arnold was playing up until picking up his injury. He set up Kylian Mbappe after just seven minutes to register his first assist for Real but was taken off five minutes before the hour mark, with his momentum halted.

The Mirror reported on how the Spanish press reacted to the injury, with some outlets sympathetic toward the defender's cause but others, including Sport, reporting how Alexander Arnold is ' Real Madrid signing who continues to disappoint'. Sport further claim that Real are 'already doubting' whether signing Trent was the 'right move'.
