Liverpool put player back on transfer shortlist – Everton, Real Madrid and Juventus stars targeted

Liverpool remain interested in Bayern Munich star Michael Olise, despite reports that they had turned away from a potential move.

That’s according to journalist Tobias Altschäffl. BILD’s deputy head of football has revealed all about Liverpool’s transfer plans on the show ‘True or Not True’.

Liverpool have been linked with a future move for Olise as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah. A recent report, though, insisted that they had taken him off of their potential transfer shortlist.

The Reds had seemingly turned their attention elsewhere, likely because Olise continues to shine at Bayern since joining them last summer. He would be an extremely expensive signing, to say the least, which may not be viable following Liverpool’s big summer of spending.

Altschäffl insists this is wide of the mark, though. According to his information, Olise remains on a back up list at Liverpool. That list also includes stars from Juventus, Real Madrid and fierce rivals Everton. The latter was also linked in a separate report last weekend.

“Michael Olise is on this backup list,” he said.

“Along with three other names: Kenan Yildiz from Juventus Turin, Rodrygo from Real Madrid, and Iliman Ndiaye from Everton.

“Bayern are very confident that Olise won’t leave. Why would they let him go? But it’s understandable that Liverpool are interested in him.”

The bigger issue for Liverpool, if they move for Olise, may be convincing him to leave Bayern. He’s established himself as a star man with the German giants.

He’s already managed 29 goals and 34 assists in 76 games for them since joining in 2024, quickly stepping up and adapting after life at Crystal Palace.

And Altschäffl insists he’s more than happy where he is. So much so that any Liverpool advances would likely be rebuffed.

“Olise identifies with the club more than some people think, because he never speaks publicly or gives interviews,” he added.

“In the locker room, he’s a fantastic character who’s invaluable for team cohesion. I can definitely imagine him fulfilling his contract and even extending it.

“But to say he’ll be at Bayern forever – I wouldn’t go that far. He hasn’t yet fully embraced the Bayern DNA and the understanding of the club that Ribery and Robben only developed after many years. But Bayern fans can look forward to Olise for the next few years. No matter what Liverpool tries.”
