Leeds United will welcome Liverpool to Elland Road in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

Leeds produced an impressive display in their last match, beating Chelsea 3-1 at home to end a four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Liverpool came from behind to secure a point in their 1-1 draw with Sunderland at Anfield on Wednesday.

Having scored five goals combined against Manchester City and Chelsea, Leeds will be confident against Liverpool’s struggling defence.

The Reds have been particularly vulnerable from set-pieces and counter-attacks, ranking second for goals conceded (nine) from set-pieces and joint-first for goals conceded (three) from counter-attacks.

Leeds, who have scored seven goals from set-pieces this season, will see this as a real opportunity to exploit.

However, they also need to tighten their defence if they are to record a second consecutive home win.

Ahead of the clash with Liverpool, Leeds manager Daniel Farke has provided an update on the squad’s fitness.

The news is mixed, with no fresh injury concerns among the players.

Dan James and Sean Longstaff’s situations remain unchanged, but there are still a couple of doubts in the squad.

“No fresh injury concerns. We have definitely Daniel James and Sean Longstaff out, so it’s a bit more longer term after this game,” Farke stated.

“Of course we need to take some late decisions, like always when you have such a quick turnaround. We have a few players who are a bit more major doubt.

“Lukas Nmecha with hamstring problems after the last game, we will have to assess him to see if he is available.

“Dominic Calvert-Lewin with some calf problems after the last game, also a question mark behind his availability.

“We also have players with loads of load, not just in this game, but also over the course of the last games.

“The wing back positions and midfield positions, so we will have to see who is fully recovered.”
