Arsenal keen to sign Serie A star wanted by Real Madrid

Premier League leaders Arsenal re-established their five-point lead at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Brentford on Wednesday night.

The Gunners’ advantage over Manchester City had been cut to just two points following the Citizens’ 5-4 win against Fulham on Tuesday, but goals from Mikel Merino and Bukayo Saka earned Mikel Arteta’s side all three points and restored their lead to five.

Next up for the North London side is a trip to face Aston Villa on Saturday, before a visit to Belgian side Club Brugge in the Champions League.

In the meantime, though, it has emerged that Arsenal are chasing one of Europe’s most in-demand attacking players.

As per SPORT, via Fichajes, Arsenal are hoping to beat Spanish side Real Madrid to the signing of Juventus star Kenan Yildiz.

The report claims that the London giants have been in discussions with the Turkey international’s representatives for some time now, in an effort to gauge the player’s salary expectations and assess whether or not a deal is likely to be agreed.

Yildiz, 20, joined the Old Lady from German giants Bayern Munich back in 2022 and has since established himself as one of the Italian side’s most important players.

In total he has now scored 21 goals and provided 16 assists in 102 games for Juventus across all competitions.

According to the report, Yildiz has requested an annual salary in excess of £6 million, as a reward for his impressive performances so far this term.

Yildiz, who can play centrally or on the left, has registered a combined ten goals and assists in 18 games this season.

The Turkish attacker is currently contracted to Juventus until 2029 and, while the club are trying to keep him in Turin, discussions over an extension are said to have stalled.

Both Arsenal and Real Madrid could look to take advantage of the situation and lure Yildiz away from Turin, the report claims.
