Manchester United are said to have sent scouts to watch Olympiacos' highly sought-after teenage midfielder, Christos Mouzakitis, in their thrilling Champions League clash with Real Madrid last week.
A whole host of Europe's elite have been credited with an interest in Mouzakitis, 18, in recent weeks, including a number of Premier League clubs. And the youngster was being watched closely by some of his suitors as he caught the eye for Olympiacos in their 4-3 loss against Los Blancos.
The Sun report that Manchester United have 'ramped up their interest' in Mouzakitis by having representatives in Greece to watch him. Intriguingly, Real Madrid are one of the other clubs who are understood to be keeping tabs on the midfield maestro's development, meaning they got the chance to see his prodigious talents firsthand.
It's claimed that Mouzakitis, who won the coveted Tuttosport Golden Ball Web award earlier this week, is valued at around £40million by Olympiacos.
However, his value is expected to rise ahead of the January transfer window as a whole host of clubs continue to track him. Those include Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan and Juventus, while Arsenal and Aston Villa are among Mouzakitis' other suitors in the Premier Leagues.

While it remains to be seen if United are planning to formalise their interest in Mouzakitis in the January transfer window, they do continue to be linked heavily with another midfielder.
The Red Devils spent around £200m to overhaul their attack in the summer and Ruben Amorim and Co are expected to turn their attention to United's engine room next.
The likes of Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson and Adam Wharton have all been billed as targets. Wolves' Joao Gomes is another name who continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford and he could be more attainable in January given his club's current plight at the foot of the Premier League table.
Gomes will be unable to feature for Wolves when they travel to Manchester to play United on Monday night, though. That's because the £44m-rated star is suspended after accumulating his fifth yellow card of the season in the 1-0 home defeat against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.
