Tosin Adarabioyo is taking a lot of heat right now following Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat to Leeds United on Wednesday.
The central defender was at fault for Leeds’ third goal, and that did not go down well with the Chelsea fanbase.
Chelsea supporters fumed at both Enzo Maresca and Adarabioyo after the error that ended the Blues’ hopes of coming back.
However, the 28-year-old is not the first Chelsea star to make a horrendous mistake at Elland Road.

Edouard Mendy made same mistake as Tosin Adarabioyo against Leeds
In the 2022/23 season, Chelsea were also beaten by Leeds, losing 3-0. At the heart of that defeat was the Blues’ former goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Like Adarabioyo did on Wednesday night, Mendy took too long on the ball prior to being dispossessed by Brenden Aaronson before the American put Leeds in front.
Was Tosin Adarabioyo’s mistake against Leeds worse than Edouard Mendy’s?

Aaronson was not the only Leeds player who went into Wednesday’s game with a goal against Chelsea to his name.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin had also scored versus Chelsea prior to that match and managed to grab another goal against them after Adarabioyo’s mistake.
Adarabioyo and his teammates cannot dwell on that defeat for too long, though, as they play Bournemouth on Saturday.

Tosin Adarabioyo can still turn things around
One year later, in the summer of 2023, Mendy was eventually sold after losing his spot in the team to Kepa Arrizabalaga. Adarabioyo does not have to suffer the same fate, though.
The former Fulham man is receiving a lot of criticism right now, but he has some very good attributes and was a useful player for Chelsea last season.
Was Tosin Adarabioyo really that bad against Leeds?
Here’s what the stats say…

Adarabioyo brings height to Enzo Maresca’s backline and is one of the leaders in a very inexperienced dressing room.
The ex-Manchester City star does not have to play every game, but he is definitely not a bad squad player.
That being said, Chelsea have Aaron Anselmino and Mamadou Sarr out on loan. If Adarabioyo does not improve, one of them could take his spot in Maresca’s squad next term.
