Alex Bregman is on the mind of many Boston Red Sox fans these days as they wait to see whether the club will re-sign Bregman. With other teams like the Detroit Tigers and possibly the Philadelphia Phillies vying for Bregman’s services, a return to Boston is far from guaranteed for the 31-year-old. Even so, Bregman is such a good fit in Boston, that many pundits feel overwhelmingly so that he will be wearing a Red Sox uniform once again in 2026 (and beyond). MLB Network’s Yonder Alonso is one of those analysts. On Thursday, Alonso communicated his belief that Bregman will return to the Red Sox, despite offers from other teams. “I think all roads lead back to Boston,” Alonso said. “I just don’t think any other team really makes sense. … What he’s meant to these younger guys, the way he works, the way he gets ready for a game … his value, I think, to the Boston Red Sox is just so high.” Story continues below advertisement Bregman slashed .273/ .360/ .462/ .821 in 114 games for the Red Sox in 2025. He hit 18 home runs and drove in 62 runs, snagging his third All-Star berth along the way. Bregman won two World Series titles with the Houston Astros in 2017 and 2022. He’s a career .272 hitter whose righty bat pairs well with Fenway Park, one the strongest factors pointing to his Red Sox return.
