Ex-Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez could be on the move again in the January transfer window, with reports suggesting he's been 'offered' to Turkish outfit Fenerbahce. The Uruguayan left Anfield last summer.

His departure saw him join Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal for a hefty £66 million fee. This departure allowed Liverpool to bring in Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak during the summer transfer window.

Nunez has had a decent run for his new side, netting five goals and assisting two more in his 11 appearances for the club. However, it seems he hasn't quite settled in the Middle East and is keen to secure a move away when the transfer window reopens.

Turkish publication Sporx now claims that Nunez has been offered to Fenerbahce as they hunt for a new striker. It's also reported that the club has already started a 'cost analysis' of the player.

It's clear that Fenerbahce won't be able to match the salary Nunez currently earns at Al-Hilal. However, there's a possibility of using funds from player sales or having Al-Hilal cover part of the player's wages if a loan deal can be arranged.

Nunez himself is said to have already 'gathered information' about Fenerbahce. He's reportedly spoken to teammate Yusuf Akcicek, who transferred to Al-Hilal from the Turkish side last summer, and fellow Uruguayan Diego Lugano.

Nunez failed to make a significant impression at Liverpool, with Arne Slot acknowledging back in January that the side couldn't utilise his abilities effectively. "Darwin is a striker we have to use in a certain way and we were not able yet to bring the best out of him this season," he explained.

"Against Accrington Stanley again you saw he has a lot of pace but, unfortunately for him, most teams sit back a lot against us.

"If you look back at the goals he scored for us, I remember the one against [Aston] Villa when he went around the goalkeeper on a fast break, that is his main strength – he has other qualities as well – but we are still working on getting him in the best possible positions against a low block. That involves the right timings, the right crosses, the right position to start from and making the right run."

Discussion surrounding Nunez's future emerges just months after he departed Anfield during a summer overhaul of the Reds' attack. Ekitike impressed after arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer transfer window.

The French forward has found the net six times across all competitions for Liverpool. Things haven't been quite as straightforward for Isak, with the striker finding it tough to make his mark following a £125m switch from Newcastle United.

The 26-year-old has managed just one goal in his seven Premier League outings for the club. His sole other strike came in the Carabao Cup against Championship outfit Southampton.
