BTS member Suga is drawing attention in Korea after reports revealed that his mother owns a newly built property in the upscale Hannam neighborhood, an area where several BTS members also reside.

According to a media report on Thursday, Suga’s mother owns land and a building in Hannam-dong, Yongsan District. The property is estimated to be worth about 17.3 billion won ($12.9 million).

The property underwent a major transformation after a change in ownership in December 2022. Through a corporation she heads, Suga’s mother reportedly purchased the land and existing structure for about 10.8 billion won, demolished it and rebuilt the site over a two-year construction period.

The new building, completed this year, spans eight stories, including two basement floors and six aboveground levels, with an additional rooftop structure.

The first floor is now occupied by a restaurant opened by Suga’s older brother, which began operations last month. Another restaurant is located on the basement level, while a hair salon operates on the third floor. The fourth and fifth floors are also lit and appear mostly filled, suggesting minimal vacancy.

Suga was recently seen visiting the building to check on noise issues related to construction, according to the report.

Hannam-dong is home to multiple BTS members, including Jin, RM and Jimin — a factor that may have influenced the family’s purchase. The group members are widely known for their strong real estate portfolios.

Jin, for instance, purchased a 243-square-meter unit at Hannam The Hill for 17.5 billion won in June. He previously bought a 233-square-meter apartment for 4.49 billion won in July 2019 and another 206-square-meter property for 4.27 billion won later that year.

J-hope reportedly owns multiple properties, including a penthouse in Seobinggo-dong, Yongsan District, purchased for 12 billion won and another unit directly below it, along with two luxury apartments in the Seongsu area of eastern Seoul.
