Where Opta are now predicting Chelsea finish in the league will please Blues owners

Chelsea owners will be totally fine with where Opta are predicting they will finish in the Premier League this season.

Opta have updated their predictions after the latest round of Premier League games this week in which Chelsea lost 3-1 against relegation battlers Leeds United in what was a terrible performance from The Blues.

Sources: Blues player was supposed to START the game for Chelsea v Leeds last night but didn’t come on until late!

As a result of this game, it has had Gary Neville out there again saying that Chelsea need to come out of any title talk right now because they are ‘miles off’ challenging for a league title.

Personally, I don’t think we are ‘miles off’ simply due to how inconsistent all the other clubs are around us, but a lot of the points he’s raised here are hard to disagree with.

The Leeds defeat even had former Blue Jason Cundy go off on some bizarre rant after losing his head on talkSPORT after the game!

After defeat to Leeds, Opta have fourth place as the most likely position that they will finish in the 2025/26 season.

Third place is the next most likely placing for Chelsea, while they are being given a 1.33% chance of winning the Premier League.

The owners will be fine with that

We keep hearing, through media briefings, that Chelsea are not title challenging this season anyway, because they have set their expectations for a top four finish only for now. So I guess they will be pleased with these predictions, bizarrely.

Chelsea fans would be believing that by now, after all the money that has been spent on this squad, that they should be aiming for a higher finish than just a top four this season.
