'I really hope' - Manager expects Manchester United transfer decision on player in next two…

Manchester United 1-1 West Ham match highlights and reaction

Man Utd have some big decisions to make ahead of the January transfer window next month.

The Manchester United youngster has shone on loan at Wednesday this campaign and started all 14 league matches since he joined in the final days of the summer window. Although Amass joined on an initial season-long loan, it technically expires on January 5 due to a break clause, and United must decide whether he should remain at Hillsborough or return to Manchester and potentially join another club for the second half of the season.

United agreed to cover the costs of Amass' loan in exchange for guaranteed game time, but could allow him to join another Championship club that would offer both game time and a financial incentive. Club sources insist the ultimate factor is the promise of regular football, something Wednesday have already proven they can offer him.

United set to make Amass decision soon

Manchester United have been in regular contact with Sheffield Wednesday regarding the development of Harry Amass but have yet to make a final decision on what to do next. It could be a risk to recall him and send him out on loan elsewhere, with the teenager already settled at the Yorkshire club.

Speaking ahead of the weekend trip to face Blackburn Rovers, Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen suggested the transfer delay could be due to ongoing contract talks between Amass and United, with the teenager's contract set to expire in 2027. However, there is also an understanding that the delay might be down to the fact that both the player and United have yet to decide what would be best for him next month.

“There is contact between Sheffield Wednesday and Man United and I hope in the next one or two weeks we can come closer to something here,” Pedersen told the Sheffield Star.

“I think there is something between Manchester United and Harry that they have to find out before we can make the next step,” he continued. “I hope it will be found out in the short term. There could be something with the contract between Harry and Manchester United, but let’s see what happens. I think we will find a solution - I really hope.”
