Arsenal now eyeing move to sign 'phenomenal' Newcastle defender for Mikel Arteta - insider

Arsenal are among a host of Premier League clubs keeping a close eye on Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento, according to former scout Mick Brown.

The Gunners could reportedly step up their interest in the England international if he becomes available in 2026, having identified him as a potential reinforcement at full-back.

Mikel Arteta’s side could face competition from both Manchester United and Manchester City, who are also monitoring developments around Livramento.

Newcastle are confident they can keep hold of the wide defender, with his St James' Park contract running until the summer of 2028.

Arsenal Interested in Tino Livramento

According to Brown, Arsenal are among several Premier League clubs eyeing Livramento, with Man City seen as front-runners in the race at the moment:

“It comes as no surprise to me that you’ve now got Man United and Arsenal both looking at him and wondering whether they could bring him in.

“Then, of course, you’ve got Man City who are certainly interested because they don’t have many natural options to play at right-back and he would fit in well.

“If it came down to it, I think they’d still be the favourites ahead of the other two, but we will have to wait and see what happens if any of them make a move.”

Livramento joined Newcastle from Southampton in the summer of 2023 and has emerged as one of the best full-backs in the country during his two years at St James’ Park.

The 'absolutely phenomenal' 23-year-old has amassed 92 appearances for the Magpies to date and was forced to miss over a month of action with a knee injury this season before returning in November.

Livramento will certainly be hoping to impress England boss Thomas Tuchel ahead of the World Cup, having missed out on call-ups for the past two squads due to injury.

Arsenal Eyeing Rodrigo Mendoza

Arsenal are keeping tabs on several promising names that could be available on the market next year, including Elche midfielder Rodrigo Mendoza.

As GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano revealed, the Gunners are attracted by the 20-year-old’s low release clause, which stands at €20m (£17m).

Arsenal have already sent scouts twice to watch Mendoza this campaign and are paying close attention to the starlet, who is under contract until June 2028.

Mendoza has made 12 appearances for Elche this season, starting on five occasions in La Liga.
