Sometimes you just can’t catch a break. And that’s very much the case for former Everton midfielder Orel Mangala.
Foot Mercato report today that he’s been dealt another injury blow at Lyon. The 27-year-old is set for another spell on the sidelines.
They explain that after returning to the pitch after several months out due to a knee injury suffered on loan at Everton, the midfielder firmly had his eye on the future.
He’s been open about his struggles coming back from the injury. That comeback was made particularly more difficult as it had ruined his hopes of joining Everton permanently and playing in the Premier League.
Unfortunately, it appears his optimism after that game, was to be short lived. Mangala is now set for a return to the treatment room.
He was expected to attend a press conference at the Groupama OL Training Centre today before the match against Lorient but was unable to attend. Manager Paulo Fonseca then announced that the Belgian was injured in training
“Orel felt some discomfort in his hamstrings during training this morning,” he said when asked about the Belgian’s absence. Foot Mercato say the latest injury will be a ‘tough blow’ for the midfielder.
How long he is now out remains to be seen, and these things do tend to be common after a long injury like his. The hope is that this lay off isn’t as lengthy as the last.
