The woman who alleged that Conor McGregor assaulted her in a bathroom at the 2023 NBA Finals in Miami dropped the civil lawsuit against him. The accuser, “Jane Doe,” submitted a notice of voluntary dismissal in U.S. District Court this week. The court dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning she cannot refile the same claim at any point in the future.
The accuser, described in the lawsuit as a 49-year-old business executive with a job on Wall Street, had claimed that in June of 2023 Conor McGregor assaulted her in a bathroom at the Kaseya Center during Game 4 of the NBA Finals. The lawsuit also named the owners of the Kaseya Center as a defendant, citing their failure to cut off [McGregor]’s access to alcoholic beverages after they overserved him. This was the same event in which Conor McGregor knocked out Heat mascot Burnie and sent the man wearing the mascot suit to the hospital.
Despite the disturbing accusations, police did not charge Conor McGregor with any crime
In the lawsuit, the woman claimed that “security refused to let [the woman] exit or allow anyone else, including her friend, inside the bathroom.” Once inside, she said Conor McGregor forced himself upon her.
A video later made public shows Conor McGregor taking the woman by the hand and leading her into a bathroom inside the Kaseya Center. In the video, she does not seem to be coerced, but it does appear that three men guard the door to the bathroom.
After going to the police, the Miami-Dade County Prosecutor’s office elected not to press criminal charges against McGregor. So, instead, she filed a civil lawsuit against him.
In November 2024, a court found Conor McGregor liable in a separate assault lawsuit and ordered him to pay the victim between $262,000 and $328,000. He has filed an appeal of that guilty verdict.
