“We Are Going To…”: $269M Detroit Star Makes “Stereotype” Prediction for Dak Prescott and…

Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham showed up at Ford Field Thursday night. The real surprise? He was there less as a Detroiter but more as a Cowboys supporter, showing his pledge for Dak Prescott.

The $269 million point guard made waves during his pregame interview on NFL on Prime. Standing on the Lions’ turf, Cunningham openly backed the visiting Dallas Cowboys. He’s supposed to be Detroit’s franchise cornerstone, but he ditched the loyalty for his Texas roots.

Detroit’s Cade Cunningham Picks Dak Prescott Over Home Team

The sideline interview turned heads when Cunningham was asked about his expectations for Dallas’ season before the kickoff. Without hesitation, he dropped a bombshell that sent shockwaves through the Motor City.

“We (the Cowboys) are going to the Super Bowl,” Cunningham said. “We’re going to the Super Bowl. That’s how I feel.”

The Texas native doubled down on his Cowboys fandom at the worst possible time. Not to mention, Detroit fans expected unity from their NBA superstar but they got a dose of reality about where his NFL loyalties lie.

Cunningham signed a five-year, $269,085,780 extension with the Pistons in July 2024. He’s currently leading Detroit to a 17-5 record and the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

But the fifth-year guard failed to merge with football diplomacy. His prediction came as Dallas entered the matchup riding a three-game win streak following some juicy trades.

They’d knocked off both Super Bowl LIX participants, the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, in stunning fashion. That might give the Pistons’ point guard a feeling that Prescott is going to lead the team in Super Bowl 60.

However, the extra juice Cunningham’s bold call had didn’t last long as the Lions escaped with a 44-30 home victory against Jerry Jones’ team. So, his stereotypical remarks got some reality checks from NFL fans.

Fans Don’t Think Dak Prescott Can Make It to the Super Bowl

Cowboys Nation loved the endorsement that came from Cunningham’s interview, but plenty of fans clowned the prediction, especially given Dallas’ shaky playoff position.

One fan wrote, “Really leaning into the stereotype.”

Another angry fan wrote, “Tell his punk a– they cost me big losing to the Bucks.”

The third fan joked, “Who told him it was a good idea to go to a home game in Detroit (the city he plays for aswell) to root for the opposing team?”

“Saying ‘we going to the Super Bowl’ is bold when you’re watching a team, not playing. Cade clearly doesn’t know subtlety, love the crossover hype from NBA to NFL,” the fourth one explained.

“No more Lions games for Cade after that unfortunate interview,” another joked.

With a record of 6-6-1 after the loss, the Cowboys have roughly an 8% chance to win the NFC East and a 14% shot at a wild-card spot.

Moreover, they haven’t tasted the Super Bowl feeling in 31 years. And this year? Given their remaining schedule, a realistic playoff shot is nowhere to be seen.

So, Cunningham’s prediction for Prescott looks like wishful thinking from a superfan, but that has no realistic existence in Super Bowl 60 at least.
