Former Liverpool youngster Kaylum Moss has swapped out the Reds for Man City
Liverpool have lost a ‘highly rated’ talent from their youth ranks following the player’s decision to sign for rivals Manchester City.
Kaylum Moss, who has been described as a ‘big talent’ at U15 level, has completed a transfer from the Merseyside club, where his journey in football started.
Moss, who is just 14, recently confirmed on Instagram that he would be leaving boyhood club Liverpool. In October, he posted a series of photos of himself as a young boy at the club, including a snap of him walking out during a senior match with Roberto Firmino as a mascot.
“After 10 years, I’ve decided to leave my boyhood club Liverpool FC,” Moss captioned his post. “I’d like to thank all the coaches who have developed me as a player and person. Also thanks to all my teammates. Excited for my new chapter, YNWA.”
Liverpool midfielder Kaylum Moss confirms move to Man City
More than a month after his post confirming he will be leaving Liverpool, Moss has posted a series of images during his contract signing with Man City.
The interest being shown in Moss has been long-standing from Pep Guardiola’s side. Back in June, Fabrizio Romano reported that City were ‘closing in’ on signing the 14-year-old for their Academy. Conversations have clearly been ongoing between the two Premier League rivals for months now, as the move is finally confirmed.
“Manchester City are closing in on one more signing for the Academy, Kaylum Moss from Liverpool. Kaylum’s highly rated as a big talent for U15 level, Manchester City are working on key details with Liverpool,” Romano reported over the summer.
Liverpool fan and UFC star Paddy Pimblett has shown his support for Moss, commenting the praising hands emoji. Moss confirmed his move to Manchester on Wednesday but there are older posts mentioning him as a City player, including a video of him scoring an impressive long-range goal against Dortmund in an U15s clash.
Kaylum Moss joins exciting youth project at Man City
Man City are looking to boost the number of young players they are investing in moving forwards. While the club splashed the cash on the likes of Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders during the summer transfer window, the Citizens are also focused on building a strong youth core for the years to come.
City also signed 18-year-old midfielder Sverre Nypan from Rosenborg over the summer, who has since been sent out on loan to Middlesbrough to boost his career growth and gain valuable first team minutes.
The signing of Moss from Liverpool’s Academy has been viewed as a ‘long-term investment’ for City, according to CaughtOffside. The teenager has been identified for a central role in City’s U18 set-up in the coming years and then potentially progression into Guardiola’s first team.
