Premier League games are coming thick and fast. It’s the festive season – traditionally, it’s always a busy time for football clubs.
We witnessed a slew of tumultuous Premier League fixture during midweek – but who made it into our team of the (mid) week?
GK: Jordan Pickford
After a dismal display at the weekend for Everton, Jordan Pickford restored order with a great performance against Bournemouth.
The Cherries have been a high-scoring outfit this season, but Pickford was able to keep them at bay with a string of excellent saves in a 1-0 win.
CB: Jaka Bijol
Leeds United picked up a famous win on Wednesday night – they outclassed and dominated Chelsea en route to a 3-1 win.
In particular, Jaka Bijol put forth a domineering performance from the back, keeping Liam Delap quiet and scoring the opening goal of the evening.
CB: Cristian Romero
Tottenham Hotspur were well off the pace when they took on Newcastle United, but Cristian Romero was on hand to play the role of their unlikely saviour.
He scored the Lilywhites’ first equaliser and then scored an audacious overhead kick in the dying embers of the game to rescue a point for his team.
CB: Marc Guehi
Marc Guehi’s wonderful season at Crystal Palace reached its latest chapter on Wednesday evening, when he kept a clean sheet and registered an assist against Burnley.
In a tough, torrid affair that saw few clear-cut chances, Guehi managed to find the head of Daniel Munoz to win the game for the Eagles – speaking of Munoz, we’ll get to him next.
