Omari Hutchinson will hope he did enough in midweek to earn himself a second successive Premier League start for Nottingham Forest.
The summer signing was included in the Reds’ XI in the league for the first time on Wednesday night. After a string of eye-catching cameos, he finally got the nod from the off against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Head coach Sean Dyche’s decision paid off as Hutchinson’s cross set up Igor Jesus for the only goal of the game at Molineux. The duo had combined in the first half, too, but on that occasion the Brazilian’s header was ruled out following a long VAR review.
Now Dyche must weigh up whether Hutchinson should retain his place in the side for today’s trip to face Everton (3pm kick-off). Indeed, he faces a selection call when it comes to both flanks.
In the West Midlands, Hutchinson had started on the right with Dan Ndoye on the left. But it was a disappointing evening for the latter as he struggled to make an impact and it was his offside that led to Jesus’ goal being chalked off.
Dyche could turn to Callum Hudson-Odoi against the Toffees. He could also go back to deploying midfielder Nicolas Dominguez out wide to help strengthen the visitors defensively.
Forest will hope they will soon be able to call upon Dilane Bakwa as an option. The former Strasbourg man played an hour for the B Team in midweek as he continued his recovery from a hamstring problem.

Injuries continue to limit Dyche’s selection choices. Players are making progress, though, and the Reds are hopeful Murillo will have recovered from illness to be in contention for to take on the Toffees.
“Murillo was touch and go with his hamstring, then he has been ill since,” Dyche said in his pre-match press conference. “We are just monitoring him daily and are hoping he recovers quickly.”
If Murillo does not get the green light to be involved, Morato will most likely keep his place in the line-up. The latter was much more solid against Wolves after making a costly error against Brighton and Hove Albion in the previous game.
Dyche continues to need to find a balance between consistency and keeping his players fresh amid a hectic fixture list. It is unlikely he will change his team too much on Merseyside, but he will be aware Forest also have a midweek match to come next week when they turn their attention back to the Europa League.
