Man City target’s price tag to be increased beyond £100 million

Manchester City will aim to keep the pressure up on Premier League leaders Arsenal when they host high-flying Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side currently sit second in the top flight table, five points behind the Gunners.

Last time out the Citizens defeated Fulham 5-4 in a thrilling encounter at Craven Cottage, with Erling Haaland becoming the fastest player to score 100 Premier League goals.

The Norwegian will aim to add to that tally against the Black Cats, but in the meantime it has emerged that one of City’s transfer target’s price tags could soon be increased.

As per Football Insider, Nottingham Forest could raise their £100 million price tag for midfielder Elliot Anderson amid interest from Man City and Manchester United.

The report claims that City have joined rivals United in the race to land the Englishman, who is enjoying a fine season for Forest.

Anderson arrived at The City Ground last year from Newcastle United, and has since quietly established himself as one of the most reliable central midfielders in the top flight.

The 23-year-old has also forced his way into Thomas Tuchel’s England squad in recent months, and has now been capped six times by the Three Lions.

The report suggests that Forest had initially been demanding a fee of around £100 million for the player, but they could now increase that figure if he plays an important role for England at next summer’s World Cup in the United States.

Anderson is under contract at The City Ground until the end of the 2028/29 season, and Forest are understandably reluctant to lose such a key player whilst they are still in the midst of a relegation battle.
